Glow Discharge Plasma Equal Ions Water Treatment Technology (GDP)
In specially designed electrochemical conductors under sufficiently high voltage, glow discharge water treatment technology utilizes external electric field between positive electrode and surrounding electrolyte to produce glow discharge, UV and shock waves, resulting in the surrounding solution to evaporate rapidly and form a stable steam sheath, continuously generating such highly active ions as H·, ·OH, H2O+gas, H2O2·. Such ions can be very difficult to produce in ordinary electrochemical reactions through electrolysis but are abundantly available through glow discharge.
They can be easily distributed through the solution surrounding the electrode and can turn organic compounds completely into CO2, H2O and simple inorganic salts, and therefore can work exceedingly well at detoxifying and purifying organic wastewater.
Glow discharge plasma equal ions technology is an environmentally friendly, innovative and advanced electrochemical oxidation process, and has been increasingly sought after in environmental pollution control especially in the treatment of organic wastewater where the sedimentation of biomass can prove to be a challenge.
The zero-emission process follows the green chemistry principle with low energy consumption and high efficiency in wastewater treatment.
The high-energy ions generated by glow discharge electrolysis act as a pair of powerful “electric scissors” to sever the molecular bonds in organic pollutants resistant to standard sedimentation process by providing a new solution. The wastewater COD removal rate using this technology can reach 60%-80%.
